Britain’s most expensive streets revealed

Picture the scene: you’re searching on Rightmove, and decide to remove the price filter… Ever wondered which streets might show up if you delved into an ‘if-money-was-no-object’ property search?

Well, we can now reveal the most expensive streets to buy homes in Britain*, and there are some truly showstopping homes in these locations. The most expensive street in Britain is Winnington Road in Barnet, where the average property price is over £12.5 million.

Take a look at these houses for sale on Britain's most expensive street:

Chester Square in Westminster takes second spot, where the average asking price is just over £11.5 million. The Bishops Avenue comes in third with an average asking price of just north of £8.9 million, giving Barnet its second street in the top three.

East Road in Elmbridge, Surrey, is the most expensive street outside of London, and is the only street outside of London in the top 20, with an average price of £8,795,714.

Drumsheugh Gardens in Edinburgh (£560,000) is the most expensive street in Scotland, and Hollybush Road in Cardiff (£1,237,500) is the most expensive in Wales.

Rightmove property expert Colleen Babcock says:

“Britain’s most expensive streets always capture the nation’s attention and this year we see the return of Winnington Road in North London, as Britain’s most expensive street based on asking prices. In fact, this year’s top 20 is taken up almost entirely by London addresses, showing the city still reigns as supreme when it comes to ultra-prime property.

“For buyers looking for prestigious roads outside of the hustle and bustle of London, Elmbridge in Surrey is flying the flag for the rest of the country as the only area outside the capital to make the top 20 list.”

Street Area Average asking price
Winnington Road N2 Barnet £12,538,095
Chester Square SW1W Westminster £11,546,428
The Bishops Avenue N2 Barnet £8,930,650
Thurloe Place SW7 Kensington and Chelsea £8,904,545
East Road KT13 Elmbridge £8,795,714

Outside London, alongside the Elmbridge entry mentioned above, streets in Hertsmere, Cheshire East, Ascot, and Poole made up the top 5:
